Carrie Desmond is the Principal Engineer for Electric Bus Infrastructure at Metro Transit in the Twin Cities of Minnesota. Metro Transit is an operating division of the Metropolitan Council responsible for providing fixed route bus and rail transit service for the 7 county metropolitan region. She is leading the agency’s Zero Emission Bus Transition Plan as well as charging infrastructure projects to support bus electrification from planning through operations and maintenance. She is also a lead staff member for the Metropolitan Council’s strategic partnership known as the Green Energy Partnership with their local power utility, Xcel Energy. Carrie’s academic background is in Civil and Environmental Engineering with a focus on transportation and construction management. Her professional background has focused on program management of mega projects for innovative and emerging technologies. Carrie also serves as the Secretary of APTA’s Zero Emission Fleet committee.
